Coroner: Woman Dumped Died Of Severe Head Trauma

A coroner said an Ohio woman whose body was found dumped in northwestern Pennsylvania died of severe head trauma.

Erie County, Pa. Coroner Lyell Cook said 58-year-old Carla Westhofen, of Sandusky, Ohio, was the victim of a homicide.

Authorities in Erie County, Ohio were still searching Tuesday for 56-year-old David Kromer, who is charged with murder and kidnapping. Authorities say Kromer is the woman's ex-boyfriend and recently wrote Westhofen a letter seeking to reconcile.

Her body was found Saturday in Fairview Township. That's about 10 miles southwest of Erie, Pa., along the Lake Erie shoreline.

Authorities believe she was killed in Ohio before he body was wrapped in a rug and dumped in Pennsylvania.

She was last seen alive on Thursday.
