About 6,200 FirstEnergy customers in Brooklyn were without power for just under an hour Sunday afternoon, according to a company spokesman.

A substation in Brooklyn shutdown at about 10:45 a.m. causing the power outage.

The outage prompted numerous calls to the Brooklyn Police Department.

FirstEnergy crews found a squirrel had gotten into the substation causing it to shutdown.

All power was restored to its customer base at about 11:30 a.m., officials said.
