UPDATED: 3:51 pm EST November 6, 2009

Streetsboro police arrested a 24-year-old man who they say he led police on a chase and then crashed into a cruiser, causing injuries to one officer.

Police said they were advised by Ravenna police to be on the lookout for Robert Toothman because he had reportedly threatened to kill his girlfriend's father.

A Streetboro police unit spotted Toothman driving on Frost Road and began to flee from the cruiser.

The pursuit continued for a quarter of a mile before Toothman ran through a stop sign at Lady Catherine and William Henry and hit a second Streetboro police cruiser responding from the opposite direction.

That cruiser's driver, Officer Jason Sackett, was taken to Akron City Hospital and is in stable condition.

Toothman was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital and his condition is not known.

Toothman is being charged with felonious assault and felony fleeing and eluding. He could face additional charges from the Ravenna Police Department as well.
