UPDATED: 6:52 pm EDT October 28, 2009

Police are continuing to look for more thieves who are stealing from veterans' clubs in Lorain and Erie counties.

An American Legion post in Amherst, an AmVets post in Carlisle Township and a VFW and American Legion post in Vermilion Township have been hit and thousands of dollars were taken.

One man has been arrested in connection with the thefts and veterans are working with police to find the rest of the people responsible.

Police say a van caught on club surveillance tapes was traced back to 44-year-old Kenneth Messer, of Elyria.

Messer's face matched the video too, police said.

Police believe Messer stole $7,000 from the Amherst post. He has been arraigned and his case will move forward to the Lorain County grand jury.

Police said they are hoping to make more arrests in the coming days.
