CLEVELAND -- Family members and community supporters turned to a higher power Wednesday night in a prayer vigil for a local missing soldier.
NewsChannel5 reported there were divine chants that brought a broken family to their feet.
Pvt. Brandon Sloan (pictured, left), 19, was part of a convoy that made a wrong turn near Nasiriyah Sunday.
Sloan, a Bedford Heights native, is a member of the 507th Maintenance Company.
WEWS reported that during the prayer service the supporters prayed for Sloan's safe return.
Sloan's father, the Rev. Tandy Sloan, addressed the congregation.
"I don't know where my son is tonight," he said. "The government can't verify where my son is."
I'm not worried about Brandon tonight. Not worried about my son because he gave his life to Jesus Christ."
Bedford Heights Mayor Debra Mallin showed her support during the service.
"We wanna see him come on home," Mallin said. "We wanna see him come on home too."
