CLEVELAND -- A local Islamic leader is being accused of having ties to a Palestinian terrorist organization.
NewsChannel5 reported there have been reports linking Imam Fawaz Damra (pictured, left) to indictments last week involving people believed to be associated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
The Islamic Center of Cleveland responded Tuesday to those allegations.
"While the recent media coverage has named our imam as the unindicted co-conspirer in the case linked to the four individuals indicted in Florida, we would like to assert to the fact that Imam Damra has not been indicted or charged," the statement said.
The center said that even though recent reports link the imam to four individuals indicted, the imam himself has not been indicted or charged.
The center called the reports "speculative and unfounded."
