LAKE COUNTY, Ohio -- A teenage boy drowned Thursday evening at Mentor Headlands Beach, the Lake County Sheriff's Department said.

The boy, age 17 or 18, was pulled from the water just after 6:30 p.m. When Painesville Township rescue arrived, a 15-year-old bystander was performing CPR on the victim.

The victim was taken to Lake East Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
