Girl Injured By Fireworks In North Royalton

POSTED: 11:40 am EDT July 5, 2009

A young girl was injured in a fireworks incident Saturday.

The North Royalton Fire Department said it happened on Akins Road at about 8:30 p.m.

The girl was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. There was no immediate word on her condition.

No other information was released about the incident.

Cleveland police said people setting off fireworks could face a $1,000 fine or up to 180 days behind bars if they get caught with them in the city.

Some fireworks allowed in Ohio, including sparklers, snakes, snaps and smoke bombs. However, fireworks that go boom, are illegal in the Buckeye State.
