Severe Storms Down Trees, Knock Out Power

Severe storms rolled through the area throughout the day Thursday, bringing with it heavy rain and gusty winds.

The storms also left some damage behind.

A number of trees in Rocky River could not withstand the storm and fell on houses, cars, and blocking some roadways.

Heavy storms knocked out power to many parts of the area, including Westlake, where police were busy directing traffic at Hilliard and Crocker.

FirstEnergy said that about 6,000 residents are without power across the greater Cleveland and greater Akron areas. Outages are not concentrated to one area.

At the height of the storm, about 70,000 resident were without power across northeast Ohio.
