2 Men Accused Of Using Bulldozer To Destroy Bike Trail

Kent police arrested two men Monday accused of vandalizing the new Portage Hike and Bike Trail with a stolen bulldozer.

Officers arrested 20-year-old Briton Woolf and 23-year-old Bryan Gaugh at about 2:45 a.m.

Police said they got a call for a noise complaint when the found the two men using the bulldozer to destroy the trail behind the Kent Water Reclamation Facility along the Cuyahoga River.

They knocked over trees and damaged a covered bridge and surrounding grounds, leaving behind about $5,000 worth of damage, police said.

The men were apprehended after a brief foot chase. There were no injuries.

Both were charged with felony theft and vandalism. The Bike and Hike Trail was recently built and opened in June.
