POSTED: 7:54 am EDT June 15, 2009

The Garfield Heights building commissioner said a house on East 144th Street will be demolished Monday, NewsChannel5 reported.

He said it's likely to be the first of many to be destroyed.

Cuyahoga County is giving $1 million to suburbs to knock down dilapidated and vacant homes.

The money is part of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act.
