KENT, Ohio -- A Kent school teacher has been arrested on charges of attempted sexual conduct with a minor, police said.

Matthew Vogel, 30, of Akron, is a teacher at Stanton Middle School. Vogel was arrested Monday for the incident that police said happened on April 21. He waived his arraignment and pleaded not guilty. A pretrial hearing has been set for July 22.

According to Kent Superintendent Dr. Joe Giancolo, the Kent City School District has been made aware of the situation and is investigating. An appointment is scheduled to question him. Following that, the administration will determine if Vogel is to be placed on leave.
