A 13-year-old being sought by police has been picked up by authorities in Dayton, Tenn., the Huron County Sherrif's Office confirmed.

Police had been looking for Calvin Riley since Wednesday morning. The teen was believed to be armed and police knew that he was heading south through Kentucky based on two phone calls he made earlier in the day.

Authorities said Riley had been in contact with a friend in Tennessee, who called authorities. Police were later able to find the teen and take him into custody. He is currently in juvenile detention and could be extradited back to Ohio as early as Thursday.

Norwalk police said Riley, of Bronson Township, kept a diary that included threats to several faculty members and students at Norwalk Catholic Schools. The schools were closed Wednesday for safety reasons but officials said they will reopen Thursday.

A .22-caliber rifle was missing from his home. The neighbor's white pickup truck was also missing. He had no experience driving and limited weapons training, according to Huron County sheriff's Capt. Ted Patrick, who said the boy apparently left with $450 in cash savings.

Officers investigating a missing person report filed by his parents found a journal with the names of 33 classmates and teachers who were indirectly threatened, according to Patrick. He said the threats were not specific. It wasn't clear why the boy was upset with those people, Patrick said.

The boy called a friend Wednesday morning from a phone outside a tavern in Walton, Ky., just south of Cincinnati, and left a message that he was fine and "was going to live off the land down here," Patrick said. By the time officers alerted authorities in Kentucky, there was no sign of him, Patrick said.
