Spa Owner, Man Die Outside Restaurant

Man Kills Self After Accidentally Running Over Woman

Two people died outside a Panini's restaurant in Sagamore Hills Saturday night.

Family and friends gathered Sunday at the home of 39-year-old Stacy DiJulius, of Aurora. She was the co-owner of John Robert's Spa with her husband.

DiJulius died when she was run over by a vehicle in the parking lot of Panini's restaurant.

The car was driven by 38-year-old Erich Schultz, of Glenwillow, who later shot himself and died Sunday afternoon at MetroHealth Medical Center, investigators said.

Police said the couple had been drinking and arguing just after 7 p.m.

"He tried to leave in the vehicle. She tried to get in and stop him by grabbing the steering wheel," said Sgt. Scott Cottle with the Summit County Sheriff's Department.

That's when police believe Schultz accidentally hit and killed DiJulius with his Jeep. Police said as soon as Schultz hit her, he yelled for help.

"At that time, he was pacing back and forth saying, 'Sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to do this, it was an accident,'" Cottle said.

Lori Kavlich and her husband just happened to be driving by.

"She was in the middle of the road. He was trying to pull her out of the road," Kavlich said.

Investigators think that Schultz felt so bad about it that he shot himself in the head.

"They heard sirens from paramedics coming. He went to his vehicle got a gun and shot himself," Cottle said.

Investigators are still interviewing witnesses. They also plan to check surveillance video from nearby stores.

NewsChannel5 spoke with both families by telephone Sunday night. DiJulius' husband, John, said he is focusing on his three sons.
