UPDATED: 1:35 pm EST February 15, 2009

Police said a man used a fake bomb to rob a check cashing store in New Philadelphia on Saturday.

Officers said a man walked into the Advanced Check Cashing on Blue Bell NW with a grocery bag and a box connected to a cell phone. He said it was a bomb set to off in 15 minutes.

The worker complied with his demands, and he left with an undisclosed amount of money.

The bomb squad was called in and they found it to be a cell phone warpped in wires with baby powder in the box.

Police said the man left in a minivan toward Interstate 77.

Detectives plan to use the fake bomb to try to find him.
