Boston Heights Officer Remembered

Emotional Goodbye For Fallen Officer

POSTED: 6:56 pm EST January 24, 2009
UPDATED: 9:38 am EST January 25, 2009

Brothers in blue came from all over to say goodbye Saturday to an officer killed in the line of duty.

Jarod Dean, 24, had only been a police officer for two and a half years when he was killed in a traffic accident on Route 8 Monday morning.

Hundreds of police officers traveled to pay their final respects to their fallen brother.

Fellow officers carried his casket into his family's Hudson church.

Dean stopped on Rt. 8 early Monday to clear debris from the highway when a truck hit and killed him.

Some of those who came to the officer's funeral, didn't even know him. It was something they felt they had to do.

Dozens of police cars followed his casket to Calvary cemetery to give Dean one last final salute.
