UPDATED: 6:15 pm EST January 6, 2009

Seventeen people are being laid off at the Euclid City Jail as the city tries to cut $2.4 million from its budget.

Thirteen full-time corrections officers, three part-time officers and one secretary will be dismissed Feb. 13.

The jail warden said the jail will only be able to monitor 32 inmates instead of around 80, but the city will help those laid off try to find jobs.
