Teen Killed After Losing Control Of Car

POSTED: 11:01 pm EST December 6, 2008

A teenager was killed Saturday when officials said she went left of center.

The Medina Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Jessica Schaffer, 18, of Medina, was traveling south on Route 57 just north of Bear Swamp Road just before 1 p.m. when she lost control of her 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt and was struck by an oncoming car.

She died at the scene.

Joe Prather, 56, of Akron, was transported to Medina General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers said alcohol was not a factor in the crash and seat belts were used by both parties. The crash remains under investigation.
