OBERLIN, Ohio -- In a few days, many people will feast on a huge Thanksgiving dinner.
But, there's one turkey that's determined not to be on anyone's table this holiday.
NewsChannel5's Jonathan Costen reported that there's a wild turkey on the loose in Oberlin.
Neighbors said that the turkey is quite bold and is becoming somewhat of an annoyance.
"I didn't mind in the beginning, but then I felt it was stalking us," resident Debbi Walsh said. "I couldn't get in my car. It actually went in my garage and pooped all over my husband's car."
"I was driving down the road, and he was parked in the middle of the street," said Sherry Aulisio, who said she's scared of the turkey. "He wouldn't let me go either way. He wasn't afraid of the car; he wasn't afraid of me."
"It chases my daughter, it chased my husband and chased my dog," resident Patty Trimmer said.
What kind of turkey has the gizzards to even chase man's best friend?
A trapper said that, chances are, the turkey is used to people because someone probably feeds it. Also, someone even put eggs out for it -- not to eat but to nest. So at first she was a pet, but now she's a pest -- staying near a local school.
The trapper also said that the turkey is probably staying by the school because she's attracted to the high-pitched voices of the children. In other words, the turkey is looking for a guy turkey -- looking for love in all the wrong places.
Even though people are afraid of the turkey, they want someone to catch it alive and release it into the wild.
The trapper said that, ultimately, it will be up to state wildlife officials to determine what to do with the turkey if it's caught.
He said he has been working for weeks trying to catch the animal, but naturally he plans to take a day off on Thanksgiving.
