Police said a man attacked three people with a rock Wednesday at the main branch of the Cleveland Public Library.

Police said the incident happened around 2:45 p.m. at the Stokes Library on Superior Avenue.

Witnesses told officers that the assailant, 52-year-old Anthony Bailey, was loitering on the third floors when he produced a rock and smashed two male patrons and the 67-year-old female librarian in the head.

Police said Bailey fled the library on foot and was located by police about 30 minutes later.

Two of the victims were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center and the third was taken to Lakewood Hospital.

All three were treated and released.
