CLEVELAND -- An undercover Cleveland police narcotics detective is on paid administrative leave after a shooting on the city's west side late Tuesday night. Police said the seven-year veteran shot and critically wounded Kameron G. Brown, 19, in the parking lot of the Riverside Estates Housing Project on Rocky River Drive just before midnight. Lt. Thomas Stacho said the teen offered to sell the officer crack cocaine and then robbed him at gunpoint. That's when the officer opened fire.The Cleveland teen was taken to Fairview Hospital with five gunshot wounds to the abdomen. He is listed in critical condition.Stacho said Brown has a criminal history, which includes arrests for aggravated robbery, receiving stolen property, menacing and drug possession.The Cleveland Police Use of Deadly Force Investigative Team, comprised of detectives assigned to the Homicide, Internal Affairs and Crime Scene and Records Unit, will investigate the shooting. Following the completion of their investigation, the facts will be presented to the Cleveland City Prosecutor for review.
