Police in Sagamore Hills arrested a robbery suspect accused of snatching a 73-year-old woman's purse, firing shots and then leading officers on a chase.

The robbery occurred Wednesday afternoon in the Marc's parking lot. Police said the victim was putting groceries in her trunk when the suspect came up behind her and tried to take her purse.

When the victim didn't let go, the suspect struck her in the face and she fell to the ground, police said. At some point during the altercation, two shots were fired from the suspect's weapon, police said.

Police said the suspect took the victim's purse and fled in his vehicle. After causing a crash on Holzhauer Road, he fled on foot, police said.

The suspect was arrested in a nearby yard. The victim was treated at Sagamore Hills Medical Center, where she received stitches to her face.
