KINGSVILLE, Ohio -- A tractor-trailer leaking a hazardous material has forced the closing of several roads, including two Interstate 90 exit ramps in Ashtabula County Friday.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said that the trailer was leaking thioglycolic acid. Officers said that the substance is an inhalation hazard.
The driver noticed he was leaking a liquid from his trailer after he was traveling westbound on I-90 at about 2 a.m. in Kingsville and swerved to avoid a deer.
He exited I-90 westbound onto the Route 193. Several gallons leaked onto the ramp. He then traveled southbound on Route 193 to a Speedway station.
A 1.5-mile stretch of Route 93 is closed from I-90 to Plymouth Ridge Road. The eastbound and westbound ramps to Route 193 also were closed.
