More Raids Conducted In County Corruption Probe

CLEVELAND -- Federal agents raided several businesses, offices and homes Wednesday as part of the public corruption investigation in Cuyahoga County.The FBI raided the office of George Phillips, executive director of the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, Wednesday morning, officials say.In all, 90 federal agents served nine search warrants at seven locations.Also raided were Siemens Building Technologies, which is located at 5350 Transportation Blvd. in Garfield Heights and Reliance Mechanical, which is located at 4975 Hamilton Ave.Several homes were also raided, including those of Phillips, in the 12000 block of Johns Ave., John Carroll, former MetroHealth Medical Center vice president of facilities and construction, located in the 17000 block of Plum Creek Trail in Bainbridge, and Mike McMichael, in Concord Township.Carroll was fired in July after hospital officials said he accepted gifts from a construction company that worked on projects at the hospital.The raid is being conducted as part of ongoing federal corruption probe. In June, several homes and county offices were searched by the FBI and IRS as part of the probe.
