Sorority Sisters Hold Private Tribute To Tubbs Jones

CLEVELAND -- The members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority held a special private tribute Friday for U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones.NewsChannel5's Lorna Barrett reported that she was proud to say that the congresswoman was her sorority sister who set a very high standard for other Deltas and women to live up to.Instead of wearing the official sorority colors of red and white, the sorority sisters dressed in black to grieve the loss of a great sister and to celebrate her great life.There are more than 200,000 members of Delta Sigma Theta in more than 900 chapters in the United States, including a chapter here in Cleveland.Tubbs Jones was one of the organization's brightest stars.The sorority was founded on the principals of public service, leadership, education and political involvement, and Tubbs Jones set a high standard.Delta Sigma Theta is one of several Black Greek Organizations that were founded to support African-American students on campuses across the country.
