Authorities seized more than 1,500 marijuana plants last week in a two-day raid throughout Clermont County.

Sheriff's deputies used helicopters and all-terrain vehicles to conduct their search, which investigators turned up 553 plants in Washington Township, 699 in Tate Township, 175 in Franklin Township, 85 in Monroe Township and 11 in Batavia Township, reported newsnet5's sister station WLWT.

Authorities said this year's search turned up significantly more plants than last year's, which yielded 343 plants, and the prior two years, when fewer than 200 plants were discovered.

The high yield this year is a result of very favorable weather during the growing season," said Sheriff A.J. "Tim" Rodenberg.

Rodenberg said each plant, if full grown and healthy, had a potential street value of up to $1,000.

No arrests have been announced in connection with the operation, and authorities said their investigation continues.
