UPDATED: 4:11 pm EDT August 15, 2008

Brothers accused of beating a Cleveland man and burning his body appeared in court on several charges Friday.

The brothers, Alex and Aaron Wullf, are charged in connection with the death of John Maruschak.

They face two counts of felonious assault, two counts kidnapping and one count of attempted murder. They pleaded not guilty.

Maruschak's charred body was found in an Ashtabula field.

According to a Cleveland investigator, Alex Wullf confessed to killing Maruschak. He told detectives his 25-year-old neighbor tried to break into his home and that's when Wullf beat him with a baseball bat.

A pretrial is set for Aug. 21.

Bond was continued at $750,000 each.
