AKRON, Ohio -- Humane officers were called to a car in the Kenmore area of Akron because of several cats.

Officials said the woman could not keep them in her apartment so she put the cats in her Geo Tracker.

The Humane Society of Greater Akron took all the cats.

This rescue comes on the heals of an already record number of animals being housed in the shelter, humane officers said.

The HSGA has already rescued over 1,600 animals this year and there are approximately 400 animals living in the shelter.
