WELLS, Vt. -- Court documents released Monday afternoon detail a grisly encounter involving the teenage son of a Wells, Vt., woman who was found slain in her home, police said.Christian J. Taylor, 14, is being charged as an adult in the slaying of his mother, Francine Morgan, 40, who, according to court documents, called 911 at 3:55 a.m. on Aug. 2 in the final moments of her life, WPTZ-TV in Plattsburgh, N.Y., reported.Taylor, who lived with his mother, is accused of beating her with a flashlight and shooting her in the face, according to court documents."In listening to the beginning of this tape, a woman's loud screaming voice is heard," court documents said. "The screaming continues by the female voice. During the screaming, noises that are consistent with an object striking another object can be heard. As the tape continues, these noises change to a different type of sound. A short time later, the female's voice stops."When state troopers responded to the home, the teen answered the door and told the trooper that he was unaware of any problems, according to court documents. The boy returned to the door after saying he was going to retrieve his mother and told the trooper there was blood in her room, court documents said.Upon entering the home, police found Morgan's body on the floor, according to court documents. Blood was splattered on the floor, bed, ceiling and walls of the bedroom, court documents said.A flashlight was sitting on the bed with blood on it, according to the documents. Police later learned that Morgan had been shot in the face.Police said an investigation revealed that no one was in the house during the attack other than the woman and her son. While Taylor initially denied knowing anything about the slaying, he later described a "dark, shadowy figure" who attacked his mother, according to court documents. The boy initially told police he thought he was dreaming that his mother was screaming at him, and that he remembered a dark, shadowy figure running across the hallway, court documents said. When asked if the figure could have been him, Taylor said it was possible, according to the court documents."He continued to say that he had a feeling of his mom in a frantic struggle with the shadowy figure. His mom was fighting, trying not to give up. He further stated that he felt that his mother was getting fatigued, she was pinned against the wall, and she was trying to break away ... (Taylor) further advised that there was a lot of wrestling around until 'he,' the shadow, gets to a point where 'he' can finish her off," court documents said.Taylor said this happened over an argument, documents said. Taylor said the argument was over something that his mother was morally against, according to the documents.Taylor was arraigned Monday in Rutland District Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. While Taylor is being charged as an adult, Judge William Cohen ordered that he be held at a secure juvenile detention center pending further court proceedings. An autopsy on Morgan revealed she died from blunt force trauma to the head. She also had been shot in the cheek. Morgan's husband was not home at the time.
