CLEVELAND -- A jury will begin deliberations Friday morning in an attempted murder trial involving an attack on a Shaker Heights attorney. On Thursday, a man accused of taking part in the attack on Kevin McDermott took the stand in his own defense.Joseph Wilson testified for more than an hour, telling the jury that he saw a group of people attack McDermott last New Year's Eve, but didn't participate.Earlier this week, McDermott identified Wilson as the person who attacked him with a knife; Wilson admitted to owning a Swiss army knife, but says he didn't use it.He said he was in shock after the attack began. He also said he didn't report the crime because the attackers were gang members.Wilson says he now regrets not doing anything to stop the beating.Wilson's former teacher, Thomas Horst, also took the stand in Wilson's defense, saying he wasn't capable of such an attack.
