Trial Begins For Man Accused Of Beating Attorney

CLEVELAND -- The trial for one of the suspects in the beating of a local attorney got under way on Monday.Unlike another suspect in the case, 19-year-old Joseph Wilson did not take a plea deal and instead, jury selection is under way for his trial.Wilson and five others were charged with attempted murder in connection with the New Year's Eve beating of Shaker Heights attorney Kevin McDermott, who was out for a walk.Wilson faces 14 counts, including attempted murder and aggravated robbery.Once a jury is seated Wilson is expected to testify in his own defense, NewsChannel5 reported.If convicted, Wilson could get 35 years in prison.
