UPDATED: 6:38 pm EDT July 1, 2008

A 7-year-old Strongsville boy remains hospitalized after being hit by a car after buying a treat from an ice cream truck.

The accident happened last Friday evening on Saratoga Trail.

The driver who hit Anthony Ritson will not likely be charged, but the ice cream truck driver faces four misdemeanor charges.

Police said the crash occurred just after 8 p.m. The boy had just purchased a popsicle from the truck when he ran in front of the truck and was hit by a car that was driving around it.

Police said the truck driver, 20-year-old Jacob Rouster, is charged with not having a license to operate the truck in Strongsville, selling after 7 p.m. and for not having another employee in the truck with him.

Anthony, who was bleeding from the head and hurt his ribs, is in stable condition at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
