75-Year-Old Man In Wheelchair Killed In Shooting

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland police made two arrest in the shooting death of a 75-year-old man on the east side of Cleveland.Daniel Lewis, a retired RTA supervisor, died just before 7 p.m. at MetroHealth Medical Center.Police were called to East 109th and Prince Avenue Just before 6 p.m. Friday for a report of a shooting. Eyewitnesses told police that a vehicle stopped in traffic at the intersection, a window was rolled down, and an arm and hand extended out of the window holding an unknown object.The witness said that he heard a "pop" and then saw a nearby group of kids scatter. The witness then saw an elderly man slumped in a wheelchair.Cleveland EMS responded and discovered that the man was shot in the chest.Police have limited information on the suspect vehicle. It is described as a compact, light blue car, probably a Ford and possibly a Taurus or Contour.Police arrested Eric Carson, 27, the alleged shooter. He was arrested at 4:30 this morning on Elberta. The driver of the vehicle, Nathan Johnson, 26, was also arrested. Police believe they were shooting at rival drug dealers.
