Five teens were injured, one of them seriously, when the vehicle they were traveling in hydroplaned and crashed Thursday night in Jackson Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. on Huckleberry Street.

The eastbound vehicle hit standing water on the roadway and hydroplaned off the right side of the road, striking two trees.

Jackson Township fire crews extracted the teens from the vehicle.

The driver and three of the passengers, all from North Canton, were treated at Aultman Hospital for minor injuries.

A fourth teen, 15-year-old Sam Turner, of Canal Fulton, was taken to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities said unsafe speed was a contributing factor. Alcohol was not involved.
