WESTLAKE, Ohio -- A Bay Village man was killed in a motocycle crash on Clague Road in Westlake on Sunday.

The crash happened on Clague Road at Sperry Drive at 11:41 a.m.

Westlake police said 34-year-old Joe Smith was riding a 2008 Ducati motorcycle when it collided with a a 2004 Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 79-year-old Sheffield Village woman.

The motorcyclist was transported to Fairview General Hospital, were he was pronounced dead. Police said Smith was wearing a helmet.

Neither the woman nor her passenger were hurt.

Preliminary indications were that the motorcyclist was southbound in the left lane of Clague Road. The Hyundai was northbound on Clague Road making a left turn onto westbound Sperry Drive.

The accident is under investigation. There was no immediate word if any charges would be filed.
