AVON LAKE, Ohio -- Things are getting back to normal at Redwood Elementary in Avon Lake. After learning that a student had MRSA Tuesday morning, school officials called in extra staffers to disinfect several classrooms and other common areas, including the school bus the student was riding. Parents said they are not too concerned about safety at the school. They received a letter the same day the school was notified. One mother tells NewsChannel5 she reminded her children about the importance of handwashing, but nothing more. Redwood Elementary School Prinicipal Jim Flanigan spent Wednesday morning insuring parents that their children were well cared for."I hope the level of trust is there, and parents realize we are doing the best we can," he said.School officials encouraged parents to check their children for any signs of the infection including swelling or redness. So far, no additonal cases have been reported.
