ELYRIA, Ohio -- An Elyria father is in the hospital after being run over by a car while riding his bike to work, and now the search is on for the car's driver.Christy Zedell has been with Robert Anderson for more than six years and the couple lives in Elyria with their 4-year-old daughter. Now Zedell is trying to explain to her daughter, Essence, what happened to her father, and hoping she won't have to tell her that daddy isn't coming home, reported NewsChannel5"She misses him and she keeps asking, 'Is he coming home to sleep?' I said, 'No, he has boo-boos on his arms and on his knees," Zedell said.On Saturday morning, Anderson was riding his bike to his weekend job at Burger King when he was struck by a car. The driver never even slowed down, police said. When Anderson was hit, his body was thrown down the street, landing just feet from where he works.Zedell said she know something was wrong when she got a call that Anderson didn't show up for work. Later, she got a call from the hospital confirming her fears. The doctors told her Anderson had a fractured spine, a broken leg, arm, shoulder, collarbone and ribs.He had bleeding and swelling in his brain and lungs and several bones were broken in his face. The hardest part is still ahead."There will be weeks and weeks of rehabilitation. He will have to learn how to walk again and how to talk again. My friend asked if he was going to remember anything, he said he might and he might not," Zedell said.Zedell has put up pictures in Anderson's hospital room, hoping that when he wakes up he will remember the important things.Employees at the Burger King said that Anderson is a hard worker and one of those employees that is hard to replace. The restaurant is in the process of collecting money to help with his medical expenses.Police are asking anyone who may have information about the hit-and-run to contact them.
