Guilty Verdict Reached In Hough Triple-Murder Trial

UPDATED: 5:25 pm EDT May 15, 2008

A jury has reached a guilty verdict in the Terrance Hough triple-murder trial.

The jury deliberated for about 2½ hours on Wednesday after closing arguments were given, and they resumed deliberations Thursday morning.

The jury found Hough guilty on three counts of aggravated murder. He was also found guilty on two counts of attempted murder.

The Cleveland firefighter is accused of fatally shooting his neighbor, Jacob Feichtner, and two of his friends, Katherine Rosby and Bruce Anderson, last July 4 because he was angry over the noise from fireworks.

He also is accused of injuring two other people.

The family of some of the victims let out a brief cheer when the the first guilty verdict was read, reported NewsChannel5's Bob Jones.

Families on both sides cried as the verdicts were read, including Hough's estranged wife, Regina.

Prosecutors said Hough shot the victims in cold blood and therefore should be convicted of aggravated murder.

Hough's defense attorneys claim that Hough "snapped" and that the shootings were not planned with prior calculation and design, so he should be convicted of lesser charges.

The sentencing phase will begin on Tuesday. Hough could get the death penalty.
