Hough Jury Ends Day Without Reaching Verdict

POSTED: 5:35 pm EDT May 14, 2008
UPDATED: 7:09 pm EDT May 14, 2008

Closing arguments were given Wednesday morning in the Terrance Hough triple murder trial, and now the case is in the hands of the jury.

The jury began deliberating around 3 p.m. but decided to end for the day just before 6 p.m. The jury will be sequestered for the night and will resume deliberations at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Hough, a Cleveland firefighter, is accused of fatally shooting Jacob Feichtner, Bruce Anderson and Katherine Rosby last July 4 on Sky Lane Drive. He is also accused of injuring two others.

Prosecutors said Hough shot the victims in cold blood and therefore should be convicted of aggravated murder.

After about two hours of deliberating, the jury came back into the courtroom with four questions for the judge.

The jury asked if they would be involved in the sentencing of Hough and if the sentences would be served consecutively or concurrently.

The judge told the jury that they should not be concerned with the sentencing at this point; instead, they should concentrate on reaching a verdict.

The jury also asked the judge the difference between aggravated murder and murder and the definition of prior calculation and design.

Hough was upset with his neighbor, Jacob Feichtner, and his friends, who were shooting off fireworks outside Sky Lane Drive home.

Hough's defense attorneys claim that Hough "snapped" and that the shootings were not premeditated with prior calculation and design, so he should be convicted of lesser charges.

The judge told the jury that they could deliberate as long as they wanted Wednesday night. If they still haven't reached a verdict, they will be sequestered for the night and deliberations will resume in the morning.
