Lawmakers Make Move To Allow Investigation Of Marc Dann

UPDATED: 5:11 pm EDT May 9, 2008

Ohio legislative leaders on Friday announced that they plan to pass legislation that will allow officials to investigation Attorney General Marc Dann and his office.

Ohio Senate President Bill Harris and Ohio House Speaker Jon Huston made the announcement amid allegations of sexual harassment in Dann's office.

Dann, 46, admitted last Friday to an extramarital affair with an employee and three aides were forced out in a sexual harassment scandal that Dann acknowledged was fueled by cronyism and setting a bad example. He refuses to resign, saying his actions have not warranted it.

Several state leaders, including Gov. Ted Strickland, have already called on Dann to resign.

The legislation will go before the House of Representatives on Tuesday and Harris indicated his intent to concur on Wednesday so that an investigation by Ohio Inspector General Tom Charles could begin immediately.
