Victim Says She Saw Gunman Shoot 3 People, Turn Gun On Her

POSTED: 3:14 pm EDT May 7, 2008
UPDATED: 7:20 pm EDT May 7, 2008

One of the surviving victims of a shooting last summer that left three dead took the stand on Wednesday.

Katherine Nicholas testified that she saw Terrance Hough shoot three people on Sky Lane Drive last July 4 before he turned the gun on her and her boyfriend, Donnie Walsh.

Nicholas testified that Walsh jumped in front of her when Hough fired, saying Walsh was shot in the elbow and she was shot in her left pinkie finger.

Nicholas also reiterated what Walsh said when he took the stand on Tuesday, saying that Hough shouted "Yeah," every time he fired a shot.

Nicholas became emotional about 15 minutes into her testimony and asked for a break.

Earlier, the off-duty police officer who was the first to respond to a triple slaying took the stand.

Joe Bovenzi said after hearing screams, he ran to Hough's home.

On the way to the home, he said he saw the shooting victims: Jake Feichtner, 24, who was shot in the chest, and Katherine Rosby, 27, and Bruce Anderson, 30, who were both shot in the back.

Bovenzi also testified that he walked into Terrance Hough's home and saw him sitting at the kitchen table.

"I said, 'Terrance, it's Joe Bovenzi. I need to see your hands,' " he said.

Bovenzi said he appeared pale as though he might pass out. He also told him that the gun was in a case on the kitchen table.

He also testified that he heard Hough's wife, Regina, say, "What did you do? What did you do?"

Bovenzi testified that Hough responded, "I shot those people. I snapped. Did I kill them?" He said he stayed in the Hough home until the on-duty officers arrived. He also said he was worried what the on-duty officers might think because he was dressed in plain clothes and had his gun drawn.

Another police officer took the stand Wednesday afternoon to provide information about the weapon used in the shootings.
