Two bodies were found in a wooded area in West Virginia near where a missing couple's car was discovered, according to the West Virginia State Police.

Willard Frye, 76, and Patty Frye, 72, went missing nearly two months ago.

They were last seen March 14 driving away from a gas station in East Lynn, W.Va., and heading toward Wayne, W.Va.

Officials said a friend found their blue Ford Focus abandoned over a hillside in Wayne County, W.Va. on Tuesday.

The bodies have not been positively identified, but are believed to be those of the missing elderly couple, police said.

Family members said that area had been searched in the first few days after they went missing.

State police will use search dogs Wednesday morning in the area where the car was found.

The couple had been living in Crown City, near Huntington, W.Va., but has strong ties to northeast Ohio.

The Fryes lived in the Cleveland area for about 50 years. Until about three years ago they lived in Grafton.

Willard is retired from the Ford plant. They attended Christian Unity Church in Grafton for over 30 years. They still have family and friends in the area and they considered it home.

The bodies have been taken to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification and to determine cause of death.

Police said there were no apparent signs of foul play. Authorities continue to investigate.
