SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio -- It's one of the busiest and most confusing intersections in northeast Ohio, and now motorists are finally going to see something done about the congestion at Van Aken, Chagrin, Northfield and Warrensville Center roads.Shaker Heights City Council approved a long-overdue reconfiguration plan at a packed meeting Monday.Drivers are relieved, and the council said not only will the lights be shorter but the roads will be reconfigured into a safer route."You have cars that be in this right lane right here that will try to go Chagrin while this lane is going straight up Northfield, and I've had that happen to me a couple of times, where I have to hit the brakes real fast because almost got into an accident," said driver Willy Rudolph. The council voted to make a standard four-way intersection with some slight street changes. The Shaker Heights planning director said once they get funding, the changes will begin at the intersection, sometime in the next six years.
