15-Year-Old Killed, 2 Injured In Crash

CARLISLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A 15-year-old Elyria boy was killed in a car crash Tuesday night. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said that Joseph Paletta died after an accident at about 9 p.m. on Dewhurst and East River roads in Carlisle Township in Lorain County. Troopers said Joshua Norman, 17, was driving a 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora eastbound on East River Road, when he lost control of the vehicle and drove off the left side of the roadway striking a tree.Images: Car Hits Tree Investigators said the car was going faster than the speed limit. None of the boys was wearing seat belts. Norman was flown by Lifeflight to MetroHealth Medical Center. Kenneth Barnett, 17, was a passenger in the vehicle and was taken to Elyria Memorial Hospital.Paletta was pronounced dead at Elyria Memorial Hospital.Paletta's family said he had a great sense of humor and was always making folks laugh. He loved video games and hanging out with his friends.The family had just moved to Elyria from Dublin, Ohio. Paletta was attending school at Dublin Scioto and would have gone to Midview in the fall.The crash remains under investigation.
