CLEVELAND -- Cleveland police said a 10-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his 11-year-old sister after finding a gun in the closet. The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. in a home on East 121st Street. Police said the 10-year-old was looking for school clothes when he discovered the .22-caliber revolver. They said he pulled the gun out and asked his 14-year-old brother, "What's this?" The gun went off, hitting the girl in the head. She died Wednesday morning. Officers learned that the 14-year-old brother was responsible for putting the weapon in the closet. He told police that he found the revolver along with a .22-caliber rifle behind an abandoned home in the area of East 118th Street and Buckeye Avenue. Officials said there were six children in the home at the time of the shooting -- all siblings. Both parents were also home. The 14-year-old has been arrested and charged with felonious assault. He has been placed in the Cuyahoga County Detention Center. The 10-year-old likely will not face charges.
