CLEVELAND -- NewsChannel5 uncovered some information about the man who was driving a school bus that crashed into a bridge Monday when the driver left the bus at a gas station briefly, sending 14 children to area hospitals.Michael P. Weir has several violations on his driving record, reported investigator Ron Regan. On New Year's Eve 2006, Weir was stopped for driving under suspension, and later was convicted in Berea Municipal Court. His license was revoked. In 2005 and 2001, Weir received speeding convictions, in one case going almost 80 mph in a 60 mph zone.He has three other miscellaneous convictions dating back to 1999.Weir does have a valid driver's license, but is not registered with the state as required to get a job as a bus driver with children.Records also show a bus with the same license plate flunked two inspections in 2006 for bad springs, exhaust and a rusted battery box.The children's injuries are all said to be minor. Weir was treated and released from Lutheran Hospital.
