UPDATED: 8:58 am EDT March 27, 2008

One of the first babies born on New Year's Day in Akron died just after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said Camryn Jakeb Wilson's father shook him so violently that doctors found most of the child's brain not working.

Craig Wilson was arraigned Wednesday morning on one count of murder in connection with his son's death.

His bond was set at $250,000.

The family provided updates of the child on a MySpace page dedicated to the baby.

It said the child died in his mother's arms.

The family also thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

The Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy Wednesday. The cause of death is pending.
