UPDATED: 2:32 pm EST February 28, 2008

A store employee foiled an attempted robbery in Akron Wednesday night, police said.

Police said around 6:45 p.m. an employee of Highland Square Video was smoking behind the store with an employee of a nearby business, Primo Tanning, when a man approached them.

The victims said the man, with a scarf over his face and his hand in his pocket, told them to get back into the store. At that point the Primo Tanning employee grabbed the man and a scuffle ensued.

Police said the employee was able to hold the man, identified as 41-year-old Michael Kaminski, until police arrived.

Police said officers found Kaminski to be in possession of a knife. They also found a bottle of Stetson cologne, shaped like a gun, in his pocket.

Police charged Kaminski with aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon.
