CLEVELAND -- Organizers of the charity poker tournaments held in the Flats will soon deal the cards year-round.For the past three years, the tournaments have been held each weekend of the summer on the west bank of the Flats. Now, the tournaments will move from a white tent on the west bank to a spot on the ground floor of the Powerhouse. The move will enable the tournament to expand from 20 weeks to 26 weeks. The four-day festivals raise money for different charities and non-profit grounds. The charities get 100 percent of the seat fees and proceeds. The players keep whatever they win.The Nautica Charity Poker Festival starts next month on March 27 and will include Texas Hold'em and tournament blackjack. The charities averaged $30,000 a weekend last year. With the move indoors, organizers hope to raise $1.5 million for charity this year.
