A man dealing with litigation over ownership rights of a local company was involved in a standoff with police Friday morning.

When employees arrived at Puritas Metal Products, they noticed a broken office window but realized the access doors were locked. Puritas Metal Products is located at 7720 Race Road.

Police said Christopher Cole, 43, of Elyria, was inside with a gun and two loaded magazines. He was also wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying extra ammunition and pepper spray, police said.

Cole was arrested. He was charged with breaking and entering, obstructing justice, inducing panic, vandalism and carrying a concealed weapon onto a prohibited premise.

He will be arraigned later today.
